The Evolution of Dove Part 2

It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty.  Simply put, they’re on fire.  Check out their latest contribution, ironically titled "Evolution" (am I psychic, or what?).

You can watch the short film here.

Since I’m surfing… one more comment for your blog…. (I just commented to the previous post).
This brought a rush of gratitude for the positive changes good marketing can do. In a world that has become quite cynical, this campaign is brilliant and innovative, in addition to being completely refreshing.
Also, as a mother of daughters I’ve seen the effect the “starvation” media had on my daughters as they grew up, and they would have benefitted from this….this is so good for our “up and coming” women… as well as the men….
    Thanks for sharing it.
    Blessings,
    Kyle

You’re great, Michelle. I met Holly this week and she’s going to be a Fairy Godmother for us for Start Up Princess.com; check it out sometime.
Best wishes with the book and all you’re doing.

I believe that the Dove campaign is a wonderful idea. The world we live in now makes women and now even little girls think they (we) need to be as skinny as Nicole Richie and that that is beautiful. It is not! Curves are beautiful! and it is true like in the evolution commerical, they really do add pounds of make up to the models then completely distort them on the computers to make them look the way the ‘artist’ wants them to be. In the end the women do not look at all what they naturally look like. We are gorgous with out all that, and everyone should feel comfortable in their own skin. I myself have never really thought I was pretty without makeup on, until a guy friend told me that I looked beautiful without any make up on. It is sad that I needed a guy to make me realize it but it is true! I feel more like myself and pretty and not weighed down with alot of crap on my face. I think that women are naturally beautiful and we need to show it off, just like Dove is trying to do! ;o)

I absolutely love it!!! This is what women all over the world need to see on a daily basis. As a college student, I am constantly reminded of how much the media has an influence on the lives of women. From Ugg Boots to oversized sunglasses, many of my fellow peers try to mimic whatever they see on television, including body types. Why are we so focused on how we look???? One day curves are in, the next day a flat butt is all the rage. We will never be able to transform ourselves completely, so embrace what you have. I thank Dove for these socially conscious ads, and hope they continue to educate and build up the women of this world. Beauty is only skin deep…
