My Enlightened Man of the Day Award goes to reporter Joe Westfall for his article titled Men Missing the Boat in Snowmachining (Anchorage Daily News 2/29/04).
The initial reason for the article was Joe’s participation in the Polaris/Susan G. Komen WOW Breast Cancer Cross Country Relay Ride, promoted to raise funds for breast cancer research and awareness of women involved in outdoor sports. [The Alaskan leg raised more than $20,000 -- Polaris has guaranteed a minimum of $175,000 for the North American event.]
Joe asks whether men shouldn’t have similiar events for causes, like Disabled American Veterans. He also gives his two cents on the topic that snowmachine manufacturers are “missing the boat” on producing snowmachines geared toward women.
It’s worth a read. Way to go, Joe!
