Every day, women are subjected to a flood of images and sounds from the outside world. Each and every one of those stimuli is registered in the brain, triggering memories and feelings that they react to either consciously or unconsciously. How many times do you think a woman has said to herself, “My brain is on overload!” Well, it is! It’s not only processing things in the logical, linear manner of the left brain; the right side is also working frantically, whipping open file drawers, pulling out emotional memories and experiences to help women relate, reason, and deduce the best course of action at any given moment.
Emotional awareness is the Swiss Army knife of feminine traits – it has a dozen different tools and uses. Women may have an advantage here, but everyone can work on emotional awareness. With it, you have a clearer understanding of the feelings of others in your circle – employees, colleagues, and clients. It becomes easier to connect with them and bring them together.
Combining this with a passion for your work (you are passionate about your work, aren’t you?) immediately differentiates you from your competitor.
You also have an advantage when targeting female customers. By knowing how the female brain works, you have an inroad to connecting to their emotions, feelings and imagination –those areas that are directly linked to persuading someone to buy your product or service.
Do you trust the right side of your brain? Are you comfortable enough in your own skin to allow emotions to ride high, yet still stay in check? It takes practice and a great deal of self-awareness. When you achieve balance, the seeds of emotion you carry within bloom into the traits of caring, creativity, and passion. The passion of believing in yourself, your work, your choices, and your life. All the real, deep joys in life stem from the root of passion.
