The Lab

That’s My Baby…

tragedy_comedy.bmp … she can be all four seasons in one day.” So goes the song by Sting.

There’s no denying it. Women can be highly emotional creatures, given to bouts of desire, disgust, love, hate, happiness and anger – sometimes all in a 24-hour period. Our emotion is unpredictable and doesn’t always follow a pattern of logic. We can cry at the drop of a hat, and men are never quite sure if it’s because we’re happy or sad. There is no such thing as an “emotional challenge” for us – we can be moved by nearly anything (I’ve been known to shed a tear over certain episodes of “Star Trek: The Next Generation” – so sue me). We confound the male species, and I know that secretly, they believe we come from another side of the universe.

Wrong – we just come from another side of the brain.

Remember that most men are left-hemisphere dominant – the side that is continually focusing and analyzing information that is presented. This is the side that is concerned with “what was just said.” The right hemisphere, however, is concerned with “how it feels.”

Stay tuned for information on a recently-issued study that helps to explain how the right hemisphere of the brain is tied into why women do the things they do… and the beginning of a discussion on how this can help with marketing to women.
